The 69 Eyes

The 69 Eyes est un groupe de Goth'N'Roll originaire d'Helsinki en Finlande. Aussi connu sous le nom de "The Helsinki Vampires", le groupe émerge au début des années 1990 et revendique les influences des Stooges, ancien groupe punk d'Iggy Pop, des Doors et de Motörhead.
Ils sortent leur 1er album "Bump & Grind"en 1992 puis "Motor
city ressurection" en 1994. En 1995, leur 3eme album "Savage Garden"
sort, produit par Timo Tolkki guitariste de Stratovarius qui produira aussi le suivant "Wrap Your Troubles in Dreams"qui sortira en 1997 avec la participation de Ville Valo (HIM).
En 1999 le groupe sort leur 5eme opus "Wasting the Dawn" Ville
participe à plusieurs titres et tourne dans le clip "Wasting the Dawn"
jouant le role de Jim Morrison,
ce clip est un hommage au chanteur. 2000 fut leur meilleure année
depuis leur début puisqu'ils obtiennent leur 1er disque d'or en janvier
2001 grâce au single "Gothic Girl", l'album "Blessed be" sort en
septembre 2000 et font leur 1ere tournée en Allemagne et Finlande,
l'album est n°4 dans leur pays, le single"Brandon Lee" passe en boucle
sur les chaines Allemandes et Finnoises et entre dans les charts. The
69 Eyes sont élus meilleur groupe Finlandais de l'année et aparraissent
dans la presse (Orkus,Soundi)."Blessed be" et "Stolen Season" seront
les 2 prochains singles en 2001 et suit une grande tournée en 1ere
partie de Paradise Lost. Le 14 decembre 2001, "Dance d'Amour" sort
c'est le 1er single de leur 7eme album "Paris Kills" en hommage à paris
et qui sera très vite disque d'or et disque de platine peu de temps
après, Ville Valo est aussi de la partie sur cette album, une grande
tournée et plusieurs festivals dont le Terremoto 2003 suivront. Le
26/09/2003 un dvd sort "Helsinki Vampires" contenant un concert donné à
Helsinki en 2002 et tous les clips, suivit d'un best of "Framed in
blood". En 2004 le nouvel album "Devils" sort, il est très vite classé
en haut des charts, les clips "Devils" et "The Lost Boys" sont réalisés
par Bam Margera. Après 3 ans de tournées dans plus de 16 pays, ils
sortent "Angels" en 2007, album inspiré d’Hollywood. "Wrap your troubles in dreams" est réenregistré et fera partie de la BO du film de Bam Margera "Dream Seller"

Its amazing how the involved from Trash band to one of best Gothic bend... I love them cause they r not acting... they r so natural on stage.. I have there DVD live from Tavastia and I watched it for all over again and I cant get bored.. they r really great

new album "BACK IN BLOOD"
The 69 Eyes will release their new album “Back In Blood” in September, 2009. The album is produced by American, Grammy awarded producer Matt Hyde (Slayer, Monster Magnet). The album was recorded in Los Angeles, USA during the spring. “This record rocks ten times harder than anything The 69 Eyes have previously done!” says the producer. “It’s like when Rick Rubin helped The Cult discover themselves on ‘Electric’ - we made a similar spiritual journey with Matt,” continues the vocalist Jyrki69.

Like the song titles refer, the album is heavily influenced by horror movies and when it comes to the Helsinki Vampires, as the band is also called, naturally by the realm of the undead. ”Goth’n’Roll, Vampire , it’s all the same – on this album blood is the new black!” the singer puts it.

The album cover art is designed by the world famous LA based artist Estevan Oriol and his SA Studio. This gives the final touch for the album – back in blood, indeed.

The first single cut will be the hard & dark rocking “Dead Girls Are Easy” of which the band will shoot a video with Bam Margera as a director. The MTV skate superstar has earlier directed the band’s classic video of their anthem “Lost Boys”.

The 69 Eyes has also teamed with the new international teams to get the best possible forces behind the album: Nuclear Blast Records is the new label representing the Helsinki Vampires in Mainland Europe, UK and Ireland, The End Records in North America and AmpHead Music in Australia. EMI Finland is still the main bell tower in Helsinki and operates with all the new partners as well as with the EMI affiliates in Latin America and South East Asia.
