EVANESCENCE

Evanescence is an American rock band founded in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1995 by singer/pianist Amy Lee and guitarist Ben Moody.[1][2]

After recording two private EPs and a demo CD named Origin, with the help of Bigwig Enterprises in 2000, the band released their first full-length album, Fallen, on Wind-up Records in 2003. Fallen sold more than 15 million copies worldwide and helped the band win two Grammy Awards.[3] A year later, Evanescence released their first live album, Anywhere but Home, which sold more than one million copies worldwide. In 2006, the band released their second studio album, The Open Door, which sold more than four million copies.

The band has suffered several line-up changes, including co-founder Moody leaving mid-tour in 2003, bassist Will Boyd in mid-2006, followed by guitarist John LeCompt and drummer Rocky Gray in 2007. The later two of the changes ultimately led the band to be on hiatus with only temporary replacements sought in order for the band to finish touring.

thanks man but if u was here last night u seen that this topic was in alternative rock but many peoples sent me MPs and said that they seen that EVANESCENCE is gothical style more than alternative so what i had to do i'm look what members like.....

common man we all know that wikipedia is not quran !! , Evanescence don't sing alternative rock
they sing gothic rock and gothic metal and you can check at :

i didn't seen it from wikipedia man it's just the style for exemple if you take my immortal it's not metal or bring me to life it's true that them songs have such a gothic melody but it's not a got metal sorry i don't agree with you

I agree with they have singed alternative specially the first albums but now with songs as going under & Hunted & imaginary even a hip-hop listener will say its Gothic.

i agree with they didn't sing many metal songs , in general they are a Gothic Rock band , but when the rollingstone magazine say "Evanescence....Meet the New Metal Gods" I'll have to say they do sing Metal

I agree with you she had the best female voice ever!

well anyway wether they sing alternative rock, goth metal or just goth we still enjoy their music and that's what's important .
in addition wether it any type of rock, it's still rock music so :what ever dudes !don't fight over a simple difference of views

Amy lee sound great...but many people that were on there live shows say that she is losing her voice after 2 songs..I cant be sure in that.. but that`s what they say about here...

And just to say no days its hard to say witch band belongs to witch genre, many bands like to experiment in many fields... but Evanescence needs to be on place where Within Temptation is cause many people link there music.. and compare them

even it true(i don't believe that) Amy Lee still best female voice i heard & most beauty girl i think so like the others said no matter what they sing we are fans of them....

us i always said no matter what they sing we just like them...

for me emy lee is my favorite...she has an angel voice,a strange beauty,she has the spell tht no one can resist...i think she's nt a human...i realy loooooove her
